Sumas Environmental Services in conjunction with our associate partners
have developed an aggressive approach for treating recalcitrant organic chemicals such as
polynuclear hydrocarbons, chlorinated solvents and pesticides. The technique known
as the Bio/Chemical Oxidation System (BOS) combines a patented chemical oxidation
procedure with our Biochemical Enhanced Remediation (BER) process. The chemical oxidation
portion of the process is designed to cleave the ring structures of a large number of
aromatics. Once the chemical rings have been opened and chemically weakened,
specialized bacteria are applied, along with a proprietary nutrient blend, to consume the
remaining organics.
The BOS process has been demonstrated to be effective for a number of hard to degrade
environmental contaminants such as coal tar, 2, 4-D, pentachlorophenol, cresol and a host
of other organics too numerous to list. The process can be easily adapted to soil or
groundwater but is most easily adaptable to ex-situ treatment. |
